The story starts in 1988 when Dr. Khater Massaad was commissioned to survey Ras Al Khaimah for its mineral deposits and discovered clay that could be used for making ceramics. A feasibility study for a factory was soon carried out and thus was formed what would be a legendary success story - RAK Ceramics.
In just 18 years, RAK Ceramics is now a USD 800 million global conglomerate in the ceramic industry that exports its products to over 135 countries. . The company offers a perfect blend of technical finesse and aesthetics through thousands of designs in Ceramic tiles, Gres Porcellanato, and several models in sanitary ware. RAK Ceramics’ now spreads over an area of 2.5 million sq.mt of land at Ras Al Khaimah. It has more than five thousand active models in tiles, with new designs added almost every week to its product portfolio. Tiles are manufactured in a variety of sizes, from 10 cm x 10 cm up to 125 cm x 185 cm, the widest range offered in the ceramic field by any one company in the world. The 125 x 185 Gres Porcellanato slabs are the largest of its kind in the world; first launched in the year 2000.
