RAK-CAM: Bringing world class scientific research to RAK
The Ras Al Khaimah Centre for Advanced Materials (RAK- CAM) was founded under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, in late 2007. RAK- CAM is envisioned to become a flagship for advanced materials science research in the Middle East and to provide educational and training opportunities for new scientists and engineers at the regional and international levels.
The RAK- CAM building, which will be completed in 2010, will be a flagship centre for materials science research in the region and will have advanced research facilities including an integrated state-of-the art system for materials synthesis and preparation, analysis, testing and characterization, together with an advanced research computing capability.
RAK- CAM is also promoting advanced research by providing `Sheikh Saqr Al Qasimi Research Fellowships' to researchers across the world at University of Pennsylvania, University of Cambridge, Virginia Commonwealth University and Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore, and other centres.
